Week 1 of the Trumpocalypse

“Give him a chance, he is not even president yet,” was the mantra of all his supporters after the election.  Ok, he has been president for a week now and has already upended our entire political system.  Mike Pence, Christian theocrat extraordinaire would be a better President.  At least he has principles and respects the office of the Presidency.

There is nothing wrong with loving your country or even being a little nationalistic. But, when you run on a campaign of “Make America Great Again,” and it is obvious that you just mean for white people in the 50’s, I think it might be time for you to re-evaluate yourself. It always surprised me how a brash narcissistic billionaire could convince the working people that he cared about them or what they wanted.

His inaugural speech was a morbid dark mess aimed at scaring the shit out of Americans. His message is that we are living in a cesspool and he is here to fix it by talking out of both sides of his mouth.  He talks about how the military should be incredibly strong, when we still have the largest and most powerful military on the planet, yet also rambles on and on about saving America from within. The phrase “Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People. For too long, a small group in our nation’s Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished – but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered – but the jobs left, and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country,” is clear in it its intention. The multi billionaire who spent his life buying off politicians for his own aims is now claiming to be for America and what it stands for.

This part of his speech is written like someone who just won the popular vote by tens of millions of votes and hundreds of electoral votes; What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. January 20th 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. Everyone is listening to you now. You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement the likes of which the world has never seen before.

The rest of this speech, as seen below, reads like something a neo-Nazi would write, and it was

But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential. This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

We are one nation – and their pain is our pain.  Their dreams are our dreams; and their success will be our success.  We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.  The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans. For many decades, we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry; Subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military;

We’ve defended other nation’s borders while refusing to defend our own; And spent trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay. We’ve made other countries rich while the wealth, strength, and confidence of our country has disappeared over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions upon millions of American workers left behind. The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed across the entire world. But that is the past. And now we are looking only to the future.

We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power. From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this moment on, it’s going to be America First. Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families.

We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies, and destroying our jobs.  Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body – and I will never, ever let you down. America will start winning again, winning like never before.

We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders.  We will bring back our wealth.  And we will bring back our dreams. We will build new roads, and highways, and bridges, and airports, and tunnels, and railways all across our wonderful nation. We will get our people off of welfare and back to work – rebuilding our country with American hands and American labor We will follow two simple rules: Buy American and Hire American. We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world – but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to follow. We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones – and unite the civilized world against Radical Islamic Terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth.

At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America, and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other.

When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice. The Bible tells us, “how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.” We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable.

There should be no fear – we are protected, and we will always be protected. We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement and, most importantly, we are protected by God.

Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving. We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action – constantly complaining but never doing anything about it.

The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action. Do not let anyone tell you it cannot be done.  No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.

We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the Earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow. A new national pride will stir our souls, lift our sights, and heal our divisions.

It is time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget: that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots, we all enjoy the same glorious freedoms, and we all salute the same great American Flag.

And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty Creator.

So to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, and from ocean to ocean, hear these words: You will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams, will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love will forever guide us along the way.

Together, We Will Make America Strong Again. We Will Make America Wealthy Again. We Will Make America Proud Again. We Will Make America Safe Again. And, Yes, Together, We Will Make America Great Again. Thank you, God Bless You, And God Bless America.
It turned out that White Nationalists Stephen Miller and Steven Bannon wrote the speech together. Both are closely connected with Richard Spencer, one of the leaders of the alt-right movement. The inauguration itself had a lot of people there, but Trump wasn’t happy with that. As always, he needed it to be the biggest, the best, the yugiest.  When it came out that Obama had a bigger audience in 2008, and the National Park service released photo comparisons, he called the National Park Service and had them delete the pictures before forbidding them from tweeting anymore. He had Sean Spicer call a Press Conference to claim it was the biggest despite the evidence otherwise. He had Kelly Anne Conway do multiple interviews in which she brought us straight into George Orwell’s world by claiming they just had “Alternative Facts,” which, when questioned on, she deflected to other problems.

After being inaugurated, his first act as president was to issue an executive order suspending a mortgage rule aimed to help new homeowners. This hurt the American people and only benefitted his banking buddies. Then he issued two more executive orders, one declaring the day on of American Patriotic Devotion and another was a largely symbolic indicating his desire to get rid of Obamacare.  As of Day 1, he still hadn’t appointed 536 Senate-Confirmable positions.  It was also unclear if he had yet resigned from his businesses yet.

John Gore, a lawyer who fought against trans rights in North Carolina and likes to try and limit voting rights was appointed to head the Justice Departments Civil Rights division, not that that should surprise anyone

Saturday, he went to the CIA to give a speech about how he was going to work with the CIA but he ended up giving it in front of the memorial of fallen agents and went on and on about the crowd size again.  He attacked the media and blamed them for his bad relationship with the CIA, not the countless attacks he has made or his relationship with the Russians.  “Former CIA Director Brennan is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump’s despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA’s Memorial Wall of Agency heroes,” Nick Shapiro, a former aide to John Brennan at CIA, told NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell. Brennan, Shapiro said, believes Trump “should be ashamed of himself.” That is how it went over at the intelligence community.  It also came out that he may have brought some people to stand in front and clap for him to make it look like people like him, which, if true, is something dictators do. There are a lot of stories or leaks that came out under Trump that turn out to be false, and I’ve fallen for a few which is why I ignore stories now until they get confirmed.  The Women’s march was a huge deal with 3-5 million people coming out to protest against him all across the world, despite the Canadian border patrol turning people away. That is what happens when an accused sexual predator takes the oath of office.

Sunday, Kelly Anne Conway made the “Alternative Facts” claim while being openly hostile to the media on all the Sunday shows, McCain and Graham withdrew their reservations about Rex Tillerson which meant he was going to get confirmed. As I wrote about in The Trumpublican Guard, Donald Trump intends on keeping his own Private Security Force in office which is something most despots do.

Monday, Heather Wilson was nominated to be Secretary of the Air Force. Heather Wilson is a former House Representative and member of the air force. I remember her as the representative who had Bush fire a US attorney for not prosecuting her political enemies. She also started a company with the sole purpose of building up the United States and Russia’s relationship.  It also came out that the CDC had to cancel a climate change conference because of the new administration, which ended up being re-announced when Al Gore jumped in to say he would throw it.  It was also announced that Breitbart writer Julia Hahn was going to be working for the White House. She is best known as being the voice of the anti-Paul Ryan movement there as well as the keeper of the Breitbart illegal immigrant crime list.  He signed three executive orders today. One was the “Mexico City rule” which banned any international funding for any pro-choice groups, a boilerplate issue that all republican’s presidents have done. The other two are below

The Transpacific Partnership: This is an incredibly flawed agreement, but one in which allowed us to lord power over the Asian region and save them from China. Pulling out of it helped us here in the short run, but almost certainly will result in Chinese dominance over East Asia as they will inevitably replace us. Pulling us out of this decreased Americas power worldwide.

Federal Hiring Freeze: Donald’s executive order, ordering a federal hiring freeze is beyond stupid. For one, he is clearly going to purge the ranks of the cabinet level departments and his Executive Order just ensures they remain understaffed. This will also cause the unemployment rate to rise to a level never seen before.

Tuesday, it came out that the USDA was also being silenced and that the EPA was frozen from doing any work, or talking about it, and they had to cut the mention of Climate Change from the website. Environmental policy in the United States is dead.  James Comey was also kept on as FBI director, probably because of his well-timed stint to throw the election to Trump. He also signed orders to restart the Keystone and Dakota pipeline projects Obama had shut down. I am not sure why anyone cares about pipelines that provide minimal jobs and are owned by Canadian companies. Given the protests at Dakota before I am very nervous. I respect Secretary Kelly very much, but militarizing the Department of Homeland Security makes me nervous. How will he deal with protests like Dakota before? After I wrote that I was concerned about Dakota protests under Kelly, Donald Trump tweeted about sending in the feds to Chicago.  He said it after O’Reilly covered it on his show. Our president makes policy based on Fox News opinion shows. This then prompted him to tweet about how great Fox was compared to CNN. Trump leaked an order that would restart CIA torture and black sites. Matti’s came out opposed to the torture and Trump claimed he would defer to Mattis on this one.  Andrea Merkel came out and said Trump was bad for the world

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Trump gave his business partners worldwide VIP treatment at the inauguration, that Mar-O-Lago was doubling its membership fee, and that Trump Inc was planned on tripling its United States Presence. This is our president, ladies and gentlemen. It also came out that Trump was making Julia Hahn’s feature of Illegal Immigrant crimes into official White House Policy.  Wednesday night was Trumps interview with David Muir, in which he claimed that his applause at the CIA was bigger than when Peyton Manning won the Superbowl, that 3 million people voted illegally and that’s the only reason he did not win the popular vote, and that we should take Iraq’s oil.

On Thursday, Trump purged the State Department of all its high-level employees. This makes me nervous given how few people he has appointed to the National Security Council and how he fired all the ambassadors upon being inaugurated. It is almost like we’re open for some sort of attack, and I expect Trump to react to that with nukes and martial law. He also fired the head of the border Patrol for being Anti-Wall.  Steve Bannon gave a deplorable interview on Thursday calling on the Media to shut up and listen to them, and referred to them as the opposition party. Rumors also swirled now of Trump still using his old phone, connected to a Gmail account on Twitter, and that his state was all using private Servers.  Trump mirrored Bannon’s wording on the media, on Friday.

On Friday, Trump signed orders to institute a Muslim Ban, end the refugee program and do a Voter Fraud Investigation.  He also put a Coal Lobbyist in charge of investigating Environmental Crimes at the Justice Department, and a former radical anti-Immigration hate group leader is now going to work for Customs. Over the first week North Dakota proposed a bill to make judges subservient to the military, Arizona tried to make data collection at HUD illegal, Minnesota sought to ban protesting, and North Carolina tried to make yelling at politicians illegal.

There were a few interesting developments on the “Trump is a Russian Agent,’ front. One of the people in charge of the Russian Cybercrimes division was arrested for treason.  Another guy listed on Trump’s dossier was found dead. Speaking of the dossier, it was speculated that Russia offered Trump 19.5% of Rosneft in order to lift Russian sanctions. That was written last summer. A story came out this week about how Russia sold 19.5% of Rosneft to some group with unknown people that probably included Carter Page.

Friday also happened to be Holocaust Remembrance day. As someone who was obsessed with World War 2 as a kid, I remember reading about how we used to turn away Jewish Refugees and held off on getting involved in the war despite knowing that Hitler was killing Jewish people indiscriminately. Part of the reason we have a refugee policy is because of this.  Not only did Trump not mention the Holocaust in his statement, he issued a Refugee ban on this day from seven countries, AND said he would prioritize Christians when the program started back up.  Not only did he choose the countries from a list of places we have bombed in the past 10 years, but he excluded hotbeds of terrorism like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He excluded countries where he had business interests.  He’s turning away brilliant minds so that he can feel better about himself.

We are going to get hurt here.  We’re heading down the road of some sort of unhealthy mixture of nationalist isolationism and fascism. The Muslim ban keeps Arabs out. The Wall keeps Hispanics out. The Voter Suppression laws that will be passed because of his obsession with fraud that doesn’t exist will result in more minorities being kicked off the voter rolls. Make no mistake about it, this first week was about ensuring his re-election in 2020. The only way to stop him is to protest and donate to charities and law firms that are going to fight him. Pence won’t invoke the 25th Amendment. He won’t be impeached. Mattis won’t lead a coup. Protest Protest Protest! Be the Resistance
