Roy Moore is exactly the type of person you’d expect to come out of the South.
Roy Moore is best known for being the Chief Justice of the Alabama Courts, where he was suspended from his position in 2003 for refusing to remove a statue with the ten commandments. After being suspended from his position, he went on to run for Governor in 2006 and 2010. He failed spectacularly both times. He also runs Moral Law, a far right foundation aimed at making theocracy in the United States a reality.
In 2012, he ran for his old Chief Justice seat on the court and won, but was suspended again in 2016 for multiple ethics violations including trying to order his court to ignore the federal marriage laws.
Roy Moore is has decided to run for Jeff Sessions old seat, according the LA Times;
Suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who was ousted from his position last year after leading a judicial revolt against same-sex marriage, announced plans Wednesday to run for U.S. Senate.
“My position has always been God first, family, then country,” Moore said in a short news conference outside the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. “I know I share the vision of our President Donald Trump to make America great again…. Before we can make America great again, we’ve got to make America good again.”
Further research about Moore shows that he has been making inroads with the radical Constitution Party, a far right political party started by Howard Phillips in 1992. Phillips has a storied history as a member of the Council for National Policy. It turns out that Moore has spoken at a gathering of the CNP before, in 2010. Do we really want MORE conservative radicals in office?
